Keynote: Removing the Data Disconnect
+1
MORE
Historically the roles of CFO’s and CHRO’s have been considered entirely separate with independent and disconnected systems and sometimes competing priorities. However the reality is that these functions are intrinsically connected with both needing the same set of data for Forecasting, Payroll and Reporting.
Organisations that have closely aligned finance and HR functions have seen a 10% increase or more in operational cash flow adding a real impact to the bottom line and an increase in employee performance and engagement.
Explore how organisations are leveraging technology to remove the data disconnect, increase business agility and drive cross department collaboration.

Utilising Tax Credits and Cash Grants to Increase Competitiveness
+1
MORE

In this session, the speakers will give an overview of incentives to reduce the cost of R&D, sustainability initiatives, expansions and job creation.  Best practices in layering R&D cash grants with available tax incentives will be presented along with an overview of the benefits of patent box regimes in the UK and across Europe.  Some of the larger EU programmes (in which the UK may still participate) include Horizon Europe (the €95.5 billion R&D cash grant programme), Eureka/Eurostars, and the Life Programme.  At the national level, we will explore UK and German R&D cash grants and tax relief, the Dutch payroll tax refund on R&D spend and a couple of other key national regional aid programmes.  The speakers will also present best practices around securing funding, project management and the use of technology throughout the process.

Key Takeaways:

Finance Transformation: What it takes to influence the strategic decisions
  • The development of the Finance function from a merely accounting department to a key business partner to support and influence the Company strategic decisions
  • The journey starts by understanding the top management expectation on the Finance department and the level of involvement/freedom that used to have (example a specific customer strategy, a new product launch, on overall P&L top line)
  • It continues via a series of actions (with practical examples) put in place that goes from management tools to an integration of different approach/metrics each department works with, to a creation of a simple, intuitive, and non-time-consuming way of sharing the financial results
  • Success in the Finance transformation, that due to the limited size in terms of employees (no more than 40 in those specific examples), depends even more on the capacity of the Finance function to build strong and trustworthy relationship, often going above and beyond the scope of the usual operativity you would expect from a traditional finance function (for example store check, logistic orders planning and so on, inside out of competitors within a customer/market)
  • Aim of the new approach is to train the business to act in a methodical way, where each department shares information and receives adequate support from Finance to allow the company to make the best educated decision with the information available, displayed in the most intuitive but effective way

Rocco Del Campo
CFO UK & Nordics

Liberating Leaders with Artificial Intelligence for Effective Decision Making
Many companies are tooling up their employees en masse yet executives are increasingly forced to take their faster decisions using archaic systems, outdate (often biased) reports and siloed tech. Today, we all know the need to change your operating models to support continuous transformation is non-negotiable. Moreover, the market demands that transformation be underpinned with cost saving strategies. Executive decisions are exponentially more complex today. We are living in the age of the network – one in which the butterfly effect is quite real. Successful CFO’s must quickly cut through the raff and invest in connected intelligent technology platforms – for themselves and their leaders – in order to competitively manage customer, employee and organisational data.
Pre-pandemic, transformation was already complex, with investments of £2T a year globally. Roughly 70% of all transformation programmes fail to hit targets – that’s a lot of wasted company money and diluted ROI.

Key Takeaways:

  • The realities and complexity of transformation and business today
  • Why the C-Suite and the Board need artificial intelligence & data-based tools
  • Existing tools that Finance Executives can leverage today
  • What the future of boardroom decision making can and will look like

Speakers:

Angelique Mohring
Chief Executive Officer
