Creating a Culture of Care

When it comes to recruitment, retention, and creating an environment of belonging – where the best talent wants to come work and stay, organizations must create a ‘Culture of Care.’

Underpinned by McDonald’s values, Heidi Capozzi will break down the components of what demonstrating a ‘Culture of Care’ looks like for one of the world’s most recognizable brands and how it’s differentiated the company in one of history’s toughest labor markets.

Key Takeaways:

  • How you can use your company’s purpose and values as a catalyst to determine what programs and benefits to offer your employee base
  • Understand why compensation is more than money for employees – and what you should be considering when outlining your rewards and benefits, no matter what level in the company
  • Why going “Beyond the Paycheck” requires accountability that your employees and stakeholders can measure—not just listening and learning.

The Inclusion Habit - Changing Implicit Bias

To date, companies have relied heavily on programming—speakers, workshops, and training—to raise awareness about diversity and enhance inclusion in their workplaces. Researchers estimate US companies spend more than $8B annually on DEIB efforts and HR departments report their budgets are spent on training. While programming is well-intended and a cost-effective way to convey information, it is limited in its effectiveness to enhance inclusion because of how we learn. In fact, it may even thwart our inclusion efforts as it fosters over-confidence about our inclusion competencies and crowds out individual efforts to be more inclusive. This new study tests whether coupling DEIB training with inclusive behavior change can more effectively combat implicit biases.

Key Takeaways:

  • Examine the success of companies who spend millions on training for DEIB
  • Behavior change is key to fostering inclusion
  • We can change implicit bias

Toxic Culture Is Driving the Great Resignation. Thank, talk and celebrate your way through it
As companies grapple with a “new normal” post-pandemic, there’s been a palpable shift in power. After a year and a half of uncertainty, workers are now more certain than ever of what they will and won’t tolerate at work. Stress, burnout, and isolation have put new expectations on the table. And if companies can’t or won’t put the human at the center of work, employees are more than happy to look for opportunity elsewhere, with Workhuman iQ research finding that 4 in 10 people are planning to look for a new job within the next year. ‘The Great Resignation’ is here.
That means leaders need to take a step back and reevaluate which programmed, and practices need to be prioritized to create a more human workplace. The key? Thank, talk, celebrate. In this keynote, Rosette Cataldo, vice president Workhuman will take you through how to develop this simple conceptual framework so it can serve as a guiding light for your people strategy and help make work more human.

Key Takeaways:

  • Uncertainty has driven employees to establish hard limits on the type of company culture they would need for success
  • Putting the human at the center of work is key to retainment during the "The Great Resignation"
  • Develop a conceptual framework to encourage communication and celebration
