Large cool Thermal Energy Storage (TES) is an alternative to batteries for multi-hour storage. The concept of Chilled Water TES is presented, along with examples and case studies of both demand-side peak load management and supply-side storage for Turbine Inlet Cooling at CT and CTCC power plants. Comparisons of costs and performance are made with batteries and other storage options.
